What web address do I go to to use the web version of Outlook?
You can access the web version of Outlook from within MyMarshall (http://mymarshall.usc.edu) under the "Email" tab or at http://outlook.usc.edu

How often are our Outlook and NT accounts backed up?
Nightly

I Don't like my UNIX user ID, can I change it?
UCS will only change a User ID if the student legally changes their name, the user ID is offensive, or something of that nature. They do not change user ID just because the student does not prefer it.

I Don't like my Outlook user ID, can I change that?
Your Outlook User ID must match your UNIX user ID. You can not change it.

What is my external Outlook e-mail address?
Your external Outlook e-mail address is: firstname.lastname.expectedGradYear@marshall.usc.edu.

I Don't like my Outlook e-mail address, can I change that?
To provide continuity between the Outlook e-mail system and your lifelong e-mail address, the names used in your Outlook e-mail address must be based upon University records. If you would like to have the name part of your Outlook e-mail address changed, you must first change your name with University Records.

After graduating, how long is my Outlook account active for?
3 Months.

Can I run the Outlook Software on my home computer and connect to my Marshall Outlook account?
Yes but because of the complexity of configuring the Outlook software and the lack of adequate resources needed to offer assistance, Marshall offers only limited support.  Handouts can be downloaded at: http://www.marshall.usc.edu/computing/training-and-documentation/library.htm

I have Outlook on my work computer; can I use it to also access my Marshall Outlook account?
Yes but how difficult it is depends upon your operating system. It is fairly easy in Windows XP, but with other versions, it can involve creating multiple profiles and changing network settings. We strongly urge you to consult with your technicians at your work before attempting this.

How much space do I have in my Outlook Account?
50 MB

How much space do I have in my NT Account?
50 MB

How do I change my NT / Outlook password?
Login to MyMarshall (http://mymarshall.usc.edu) then click the "Settings" link located in the upper right corner to change your password.  Note that the password will affect your Outlook login, Marshall PC login, Marshall remote network drive access, and MyMarshall login.

How can I have all incoming Outlook e-mail automatically forwarded to another e-mail account?
You can setup a "Redirect" rule from within the software version of Outlook which will forward a copy of incoming email to an account you specify. The rules wizard is located under "Tools" then "Rules and Alerts".

Does Outlook/Exchange allow POP3 Access?
We recommend POP3 access only for Hand Held Devices and IMAP for Outlook access.

What are the IMAP settings for Outlook?
Incoming Mail Server (Faculty): msbmail03.usc.edu
Incoming Mail Server (Students): msbmail04.usc.edu
Outgoing SMTP Mail Server: smtp.usc.edu
Account Name: marshall.edu/Username
Directory Service (Faculty): msbmail03.usc.edu

What is the maximum size of an attachment?
The lesser of 25MB or the amount of space left in your email account.

How can I backup Outlook items?
You must use the software version of Outlook to backup Outlook items.  If you do not have the software version of Outlook on your computer, it is in the Marshall labs and you can logon to those computers and backup.  For more information of backing up Outlook items, visit our Archiving & File Management page.
