Archiving - Manually & Other Alternatives |

The difference is that while Autoarchive performs at set intervals; manually archiving can be done at any time by the user. ResNet - Connecting Your Laptop to the Internet While On Campus |
ResNet allows users with a registered Network Card to connect their computers to the Internet at a top speed of 10 Megabits/sec (approximately 1 MB/sec) while on campus. There are ResNet jacks located throughout Marshall and the Residence Halls and wireless connectivity will be provided in the near future. To connect to ResNet, you must have a network card, activate your UNIX account, and register your network card with USC via your UNIX account. These handouts cover activating your UNIX account and configuring your laptop for a ResNet connection to USC. |

CITRIX allows students, faculty, and staff to access applications on a Marshall Lab PC from a remote computer such as a home or a wireless personal computer. | None |
| Remote Access Via "Wake My PC" | ||
| As part of its IT Energy Initiative, Marshall has installed Verdiem Surveyor energy saving software on all of its computers. Surveyor saves energy by placing the computer into a lowered power state after a specified duration of inactivity. If you are working remotely, you can wake the computer by using the “Wake My PC” widget within MyMarshall. Further, if you are remoting into a Windows computer, the “Wake My PC” widget has the added advantage of being able to power on Marshall Windows PCs which were either shut down by the user or by a temporary power failure. |
