Program Events and Activities
REAL ESTATE INDUSTRY NIGHT
Bringing together representatives from real estate-oriented companies with both MBA and senior undergraduate students, Real Estate Industry Night is an event which serves several purposes.
Organized by MBA students through Career Services, the evening commences with a reception for the evening's participants. Prior to the discussion "roundtables," a distinguished industry guest speaker addresses pertinent industry issues. Recent speakers have included Claude Ballard of Goldman Sachs, John Cushman III of Cushman Realty, Nelson Rising of Maguire Thomas Partners, Jack Rodman of Kenneth Leventhal and Company and John B. Kilroy of Kilroy Industries.
Following the keynote address are a series of "roundtable" discussions at which the students are able to gain a personal insight into the real estate industry and individual real estate firms. Structured as a purely informational session, Real Estate Industry Night is a very important annual event for the real estate-oriented business student. Also significant is the opportunity this event gives to real estate industry leaders to learn more about USC's Real Estate Program.
ANNUAL REAL ESTATE BANQUET
Hosted by the Real Estate Program and student real estate organizations, the Annual Real Estate Banquet is an event whereby industry professionals, alumni and friends of the program are brought together for an evening in downtown Los Angeles. Following a student-executive reception and seated dinner, a real estate industry leader gives the keynote address. Recent keynote speakers include Joel Singer, Chief Economist for the California Association of Realtors, Brandon Birtcher of Birtcher Development, General William Lyon of the William Lyon Company and Ken Wong of Disney Development.
Held in April of each year, the growing participation by real estate professionals and alumni have made this event one which reflects the School's objective of bridging the gap between theory and practice and student and practitioner. The Annual Real Estate Banquet is also a very important annual event for the real estate-oriented business student, as well as for the industry executive. It provides an excellent opportunity for networking for both the executives and the students. The banquet is very well attended by members of the three student and alumni associations, of the real estate faculty, and of the leaders and executives of the real estate industry.
TUESDAY SPEAKERS SERIES AND PANELS
The Lusk Center , the Program along with the undergraduate and graduate student groups host periodic on campus events during which industry professionals and students have an opportunity to interact. Industry leaders often appear to update students on events related to the industry, their particular firm or particular projects. Panels of recent MBA, MRED or undergraduate students early in their careers regularly gather in informal but well orchestrated brown bag panel discussions to advise current students on opportunities and career strategies.
